An incident in a school parking lot stirs up a memory that Jess has tried to bury. She failed to defend her friend, Todd, and she still struggles with the resulting guilt. She also believes that she set him up. As an empath, Jess has been able to sense other people's emotions and auras all her life. Yet she ignored this ability, allowing herself to be easily manipulated. Todd's accusation "What the hell have you done?" haunts her. As an adult, she has carried this heavy burden into her relationships with other people, especially with her husband, Kevin. Her loneliness and low self-esteem cause her to make self-destructive decisions. Jess needs to find herself again, the Jessica who she abandoned as a teenager. She also needs to realize her own self-worth, deal with the anger and shame, and follow a path to forgiveness. The obstacles that prevent her from moving forward also threaten her safety.

This is a book about healing, friendship between women, and mostly importantly, learning to love yourself.
